  3. DeskPatch is 100% RISC FREEWARE. It can be
  4. distributed freely, provided that no part
  5. of the software is modified in anyway!

  12. Instructions
  13. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  14. Running this application the first time, you will
  15. be presented with a configuration program. You can
  16. select various parts of the desktop to patch. Some
  17. of which may be greyed out, this is because they
  18. are reserved future developments.

  20. Patches that are available in this version are:

  23. ~~~~~
  24. · Solid file icon dragging!
  25. · Textural information will be displayed in outline
  26.   fonts. (Default: Homerton.Medium.12pts)
  27. · Dragging a group of files will show a special
  28.   multiple file icon.
  29. · File icons can slab-in when clicked. (see later!)

  33. · Free box shown in outline fonts.

  35. Palette

  54. In addition DeskPatch allows you to select a
  55. set of 3D window furnitures (Toolsprites),
  56. gadgets (Iconsprites) and wallpapers (Backdrops)
  57. for your desktop.

  59. When you have made the desired selections, click 'OK'
  60. and the chosen enhancements will be carried out with
  61. immediate effect. You can save your choices by clicking
  62. on 'Save'.
  63.  
  64. Once the choices have been saved, future running of
  65. DeskPatch will apply the changes immediately, and
  66. the configuration window will not be displayed; making
  67. it suitable for inclusion in a bootup sequence.
  68. To alter your settings, run !DeskPatch with the ALT key
  69. held down.

  71. Warning
  72. ~~~~~~~
  73. Due to unknown bugs in RISC OS? DeskPatch will not
  74. work directly from a floppy disc. Please copy onto
  75. your hard disk or network before running.

  79. · All icons on the iconbar will use outline fonts.
  80. · All menus displayed in outline fonts.
  81. · All window titles displayed in outline fonts.

  84. Filer Icon Slabbing
  85. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  86. Icon slabbing in filer windows is achived by checking
  87. for a sprite in the wimp sprite pool to see if it has
  88. a '²' (Alt-2) appended to the end of the sprite name.
  89.  
  90. For example, if you have an application called !MyProg,
  91. you simply create two sprites, one called !MyProg and
  92. the other called !MyProg² and put them in the !Sprites
  93. file. Provided they are cached into the wimp sprite
  94. pool, the filer will automatically slab-in the icon
  95. when you select it.

  97. Please support this feature, and send me your set of
  98. slabbed-in icons for your own programs!

  100. I have included some of my personal set of 3D slabbed
  101. icons, they are high-resolution ones. Can anyone produce
  102. a low-resolution set? Please send it to me!
